Should Computer Science be part of the KS3 National Curriculum?

Hi Everybody,

Done, i don't think computer science should be part of the KS3 curriculum (mainly because i can't really think of a way it can be reduced to a level that would be suitable for that age group) but do strongly believe aspects of computing such as learning the basics of programming would be a fantastic thing to teach.

I can see why it would be a good idea but many students will not understand what they are doing or why with computer science at KS3. Could be an argument for getting the gifted and talented to participate in a few 'one off' lessons on computer science, but generally in my opinion I don't think so. At KS4 it should be more heavily emphasized though.
