German spy agency stages exhibition to warn of far right

Poll

Are the far-right using TSR for recruitment?

"The far right's attempts to recruit young people pose a huge danger to society and to our state, as well as to the people who devote themselves to its perverted ideology," BfV chief Hans-Georg Maassen said in an introduction to the exhibit.

"Not just the state but all social actors must join the fight against extremism. And to engage you need knowledge."

The appetite for such knowledge increased with the unearthing of the National Socialist Underground (NSU), a neo-Nazi cell created in the late 1990s by three youths that went on to commit 10 murders, utterly undetected.

The NSU's existence came to light in November 2011 after two members committed suicide following a bungled armed robbery. The trial of the third, Beate Zschaepe, 38, begins next week.

The case prompted finger-pointing over law-enforcement authorities' missed chances to apprehend the gang, botched investigations, and what critics called a complacent, entrenched disregard for the threat of the far-right.

The BfV, in particular, was accused of being more worried about protecting its informers than acting on tip-offs and of focusing on Islamist threats at the expense of neo-Nazis.

But, in an extraordinary example of contact between a secret service and ordinary people, BfV agents now tour Germany to show schoolchildren how easy it can be to be lured by the far right.

So good idea? Normally I wouldn't be so sure, but having seen the state of TSR > Debate and Current Affairs recently, seems we may have a few far right recruiters plying their trade on here.

Or maybe BfV are just part of a global conspiracy attempting to brainwash everyone into conforming to a politically correct norm?

Certain far right organistions and websites have "invaded" TSR periodically and have attempted to recruit here, yes.

(I'm not referring to the UKIP fanboys here, I'm talking about jackboot wearing skinheads).

Targeting young people is certainly a tactic the Golden Dawn are openly using in Greece and it goes on in other places too:

So do you think its a problem? Are the BfV taking them too seriously?

Certainly TSR doesn't seem overly concerned, we even have a fascist mod prowling the boards, inviting members to private chats so he can champion the wonders of fascism.

Its a pitty the UKIP fanboys seem to get on so well with the jackboot wearing skinheads(not that they're all your archetypal skinheads, some no doubt have the intelligence to cloak their views behind more creative language). If they want UKIP to be taken seriously its probably in thier interests more than anyones that we don't have them here using TSR as a recruitment tool.
You know, with recent polls putting UKIP at around 20 percent of the peoples support. I'd say they're entitled to perhaps, have a say on an internet forum?

I've never seen any 'skinheads' on here, dont think ive seen people post pictures of their shaven heads on the Politics section.

Nor do i see people inviting others to tea with their far-right friends.

The state of current affairs has probably changed as its more in the line of the general view of people.

Theres still an abundance of UKIP RACIST threads in many places.

I don't know why you're bothering to ask us questions when you're happily prepared to shovel propaganda down our throats about the members on TSR brooding and creating some underground fascist movement - asking us all a question then telling us what you want to hear is far more fascist than someone supporting UKIP, get over yourself.
It's better for Germans to remind themselves of the threat posed by the far right, than for others to remind them with the aid of a few nukes falling on Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt etc.

There are far-right groups attemping to use TSR for recruitment, Democracy has confirmed it, it seems the majority are unaware of this. I don't really understand what your problem is with this thread and me highlighting the issue?

Asking a question and giving my own opinion is fascist? Hmm, no wonder you are struggling here, also I've been quite clear that i'm not saying supporing UKIP makes you a fascist.

Voted no, but after thinking about it more, I should have changed it to "Yes, but it isn't a problem"

There is certainly a level of proselytizing going on in certain parts of the forum, and Islam (as a group) is by all accounts a far-right ideology, as with certain Christian groups.

True, along with the JIDF.
And don't forget 9/11. JIDF were definitely responsible for that, we just didn't know their names back then!

I take it I've somehow upset you by mentioning the JIDF? I'm no 9/11 conspiraloon so you can put your straw man back in its box.

people who call ukip fascist are not with it...Ukip want a small, in fact minimal state, leaving most decisions to the people and localised bodies. Fascist governments require a large authoritarian state.

Let's not forget that the Nazi's were socialist and fascist.

Odd, I think you must have posted on the wrong thread. No ones calling UKIP fascists here.
