changing course

Is it possible to change your degree in first week you are at LSE. I'm starting to doubt my interest in subject and I'd like to change my course to history+IR or something like that (not demanding degrees like economics). Can someone tell me how I should go about and how easy it is.

I've heard it's easier to change within the department but harder to change outside. Also it's easier to change to a less competitive course.
