student village or living on campus at swansea

i was wondering if any of you might be able to give me the pros and cons of each of them

im stuck between them because i hear the social side of the student village is amazing but on the other hand living on campus seems to have more facilities

any personal experience or anything would help a lot, thankyou!

Personally, I think I'm going to apply for accommodation on campus just because I'm lazy and it'd mean everything would be just minutes away.

I've heard the student village has a better social life but I'm sure you'll be able to have fun and make friends pretty much anywhere.

Exact reasons why I applied for campus you can get up 10 mins before a lecture plus the possibility of a sea view bedroom

Thanks.
By the way, is your offer from the university unconditional?
Mine is and on the website it suggests you get offeree accommodation when your place has been confirmed.

On the website it says they guarantee accommodation to everyone who applies by 30th June.

I've applied for accommodation on campus like the others because of it being 10 minutes from lectures. Despite the social life supposed to be better in the village in halls such as Penmaen on campus you have 4 flats to a floor which is a total 32 people per floor which should be good for socialising

This is slightly off-topic but.. To apply for accommodation do you need your Swansea student number?

I'm asking because when I applied for accommodation at the other university I'd accepted originally I had a student ID number that I had to use.

Ermmmm I'm not 100% sure but I think you just have to put your name, address, etc in rather than the student number, I'm not completely sure though but it'll be one of the first things they ask you when you apply for accommodation so you can stop and get it if you need it

I've not really looked into it in much detail because I've only just managed to switch to Swansea.

Cefyn Bryn is the cheapest so I'd hope to get in there, or possibly Preseli.
Even Rhossili or Kilvey would be reasonable.
What about you?

Do you apply for just one hall? I know at the university I'd originally firmed I had to pick 3 in order of preference.

With Swansea you can pick 5 preferences but they are types of accommodation rather than specific halls so it would be something like Singleton Ensuite, Singleton Shared Bathroom, etc, etc. You can ask to be put in a specific hall/s on the additional info box so I put Penmaen and Caswell. You can ask to be with certain people as well if you want so like on mine I said if there were any Christian's wanting to be in a flat with another Christian I would be up for it (I'm a Christian which I think was pretty much explained in that example :P)

Ah right. Sounds quite simple then!
Thanks for being so helpful.

I think because my offer is unconditional I might get offered accommodation sooner? The website kinda suggests so anyway.

Once I have my new AS12 letter and have found out what my student number is then I'll apply for accommodation.

No problem glad I could help

I think it works like that with unconditional yeah  from what I gathered you get your accommodation offers first and then those who have a conditional who met their requirements and then conditional who didn't meet their requirements and so on

I checked my emails this morning and I had one from Swansea that gave my student number so I'll apply either today or as soon as I've got my deposit back from the other university.

I wonder why when you pick your 5 choices they don't have the actual names of halls, just descriptions? I had to guess what each of them were!

I did what you said though and put the names of the halls i prefer in the additional info box.
