No, I can't remember...But it said something about how more people in Brighton are renting but I don't think it said from whose perspective renting be would be beneficial

Ohh.. You'll be fine anyway!! Good luck for next week!

So, how well do you think you did in the exam?

What did you write for the question about how much of the cost was lost (30,50,70m)?

I did 30.

The exam was fairly easy. I didn't finish of the diagram where I had to label how the coast transports its materials. The only things I did were two arrows and labelled them 'swash' and 'backswash'. Although, I'm not too sure if that's even correct. If it is I get 2/4 marks I think.

I also didn't finish of the last case study. I chose the second option (river flooding) and wrote about Boscastle floods in 2004. I got kind of stuck on the question where I had to explain one or more methods on how to prevent coastal erosion. I put down sea walls and groynes, but I didn't explain what exactly groynes do. All I said about them were that they last longer than sea walls and are much more expensive to set up.

I wrote the same points @tranquility for the reason for rent. I also wrote 30 for the distance. What did you guys put for the grid reference?

NOOO!!! I forgot to write the labels of swash and backswash.. how many marks was that worth.. I drew the lines but forgot the labels..
For the reference (if you're talking about the six figure one)
I got 331023 or something like that.. What did you get?

I think it asked explain two reasons why renting a home is good..
I said that you can earn money, because the tenants can pay you for their stay.. etc
and you can retrieve your home back after providing a notice to the tenants.. This means that you will be earning money when you are not staying there, and can easily repossess your home as you are the legal owner..

Hope that's right! What did you put?

I put that :
- It was more flexiable with familys with low incomes.
- That it was more reliable as if Brighton suffered from counterurbansation, and house price levels dropped in Brighton, the person renting will not lose any money
Any estimates on grade boundaries? :/

For the coastal erosion 5 marker, how many marks do you get for simply writing groynes and sand bags?

I thought the case studies I did were great and hopefully should get close to full marks on both.

Overall, the exam went great. Until the last minute of the exam when I realised I hadn't done the first two pages. - The housing tenure page and the one next to it. - I was gutted as they were so easy marks. The examiner is not going to have a good impression when he opens my exam paper.

How many marks will I lose for not doing the first 2 pages? It had a graph and it asked what tenure was, you needed to fill in the graph, compare the trend and I think there was one more? How many works where there all together?

How do you guys think that'll affect me? A grade or two? :frown:

EDIT: Is it just me that can't see the grade boundaries pictures above?

Compared to past papers, do you think this exam was easier or more difficult?

An A*, if I remember correctly is around 42/60 marks according to last year, an I think the first 2 pages were around 8 marks, so you can still get an A*!

I've attached last year's grade boundaries to this post (for unit1 exam) :smile:ImageUploadedByStudent Room1370417065.598599.jpg

I thought most of the exam was quite easy, the coastal defences was a bit hard but luckily I had revised coastal management strategies well because my teacher told me it was very likely to come up.

What did everyone put for the first case study question? I used London Docklands but I had to stretch it pretty far to make it work :/

I used Birmingham.. Castle Vale...
We were told to use London Docklands in the People work and development exam..
But I think it applies to both really because the area was changed.. so your fine..
i got 70 for the coast erosion question
How many marks was the drawing of the longshore drift worth??
I think i drew the swash correctly, but the backswash wrong..
and i didn't label them correctly either! :frown:

I put down 30. Sort of guessed it because I was running out of time. The timing on that exam was rubbish, i think it should have been longer, even 15 minutes so I could check over my paper
So, what do you lot think the grade boundaries will be for this year? Do you think it was more difficult or easier than past papers?
