Do you have the nelson thornes book for this course? If so do you find that the sport injuries section is completely useless apart from the only a few pages, because most of it isn't even in the spec?

Yeah! I don't like that book at all, not in spec!

By the way the questions at end of chapters are useful, have you got a link to access answers to those??

And also what have your teachers predicted for the 3 14 marker questions?

I don't have a link sorry, I guess you just have to use the book! In the Sport Injuries section all you need to know is DOMS and the different chambers, yet the book had pages on other stuff! and for the 14 markers it is likely to be aggression as aggression has never come up before, although it could be a short answer question. for section A it is likely to be either PNF stretching or thermoregulation and then something else and for section C maybe media but it could be anything. For A, theres always something on specialised training, but supplements hasn't com up before except for in a specimen, another topc that could be a 14 marker.

My last post was a bit confusing, this is my prediction: Section A = supplements and thermoregulation (or PNF stretching), Section B = Aggression (theories or definition) and strategies to overcome it, Section C = Media in sport (but I'm not confident on C as theres still a lot of topics that haven't been asked)

My prediction
A: Same
B: different types of aggression, define and 4 theoroes and outline strategies how a coach can prevent aggression of performer
OR
Leadership, types, define, styles
OR
Attribution, learned helplessness , self serving bias
But I think LH will be a 4 marker or 7 marker

C: world games and potential benefits and disadvantages of being a host and impact it has on perfoer etc

How would you answer a questions on "How do oxygen tents prevent DOMS?" For 4 marks, potential question as its never been on, hyperbaric chambers and ice baths have been on

I hate attribution theory and didn't world games coe up before in a 14 marker? Oxygen tents don't prevent DOMS, or do they? Their role is concerned with increasing red blood cells and improving cardiovascular endurance rather than reducing injury.

Oooooh yeah that's ice baths, my bad!

Yeah oxygen tents do that. Thanks

How would you answer long question on thermos education and PNF? Got an example answer?

Obviously depends on the actual question but for thermo regulation you talk about evaporation radiation etc. along with problems caused by increased body temperature e.g high core temperature. PNF stretching you just talk about the process of doing it and its benefits. On the AQA website theirs a resource with past questions from older specs on both these topics.

What grade did you get for AS in PE?

What mark have you got this year for your practical and written elements of your coursework?

I got 152 UMS at AS which was a B, and I got 60/60 in my coursework but 40/60 in my practical I think. overall I need 54 marks for n A in this exam which I think is doable and if aggression comes up in section B, I would love this exam! how about yourself?

You will ace exam

By the way you said you got 100/120 in coursework = 69ums (source AQA ums converter)

Add that up to your 152 AS score gives you 221.

So you need 99/120 in this exam to secure an A which is 54 marks!

Good luck...

I think pros and cons of hosting world games for performer, host country and government may come up for section c, especially as we hosted the olympic games last year

its definitely possible, but the wording is sometimes very strange. What do you need for an A?

Following the success of Team GB Cyclists in winning 14 medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Brough Scott of the Daily Telegraph wrote:
‘Their feats will not only change the way their sport is perceived back home, they will actually change our society.’
Discuss this statement with particular reference to the successful performers, the governing body and society. june 2010

Cant see it coming up as a 14 marker again, theres a slight chance it may come up as a short question though

So I need 92/120 in this exam to get an A. About 51 marks, B.

But I'm aiming for A* - need 117

I think:
- Vectors will definitely be o
- Impulse
- Parabolic etc
- probably HGH, EPO, Bicarbonate of Soda, Caffeine adv and dis etc
- Thermoregulation
- PNF
- Fiedler model
- Chelladurai model
- AGGRESSION theories and ways coach can prevent it (14)

Because its never been on for 3 years. Just look at old spec answers - always the same.

Agreed on that, they rarely repeat topics, and they have had a question on specialised training in each of the 14 markers so far. Also for section B it seems to be a theory, then ways of controlling it.
