The Student Room Group

How much do you guys get paid/hour?

I have a placement (unofficially), and I was just wondering how my wages compared with the likes of the supermarkets, fast food places, retail shops etc... (ie: general "student" jobs)

Could you say

How old you are

How much you get paid/hour

What company you work for and

Whereabouts in the country you're working

My only interest here is that I'm being nosy

6.20 + holiday pay
Care home (primelife)
Northamptonshire

The company believes in giving at least the minimum wage for a 21 year old to anyone

Some of my mates wages vary from the minimum wage for a 16 year (£3.8 something) working at a bar to £6.50 working as a receptionist

Edit: I'm 18

I'm nearly 17, on £3.68 with unpaid holidays... at a small independent cafe.

I question why I'm still there in all honestly.

Work at my old high school teaching English... 4 hours every Saturday and Wednesday, £10 an hour.

Not bad lol.
18
£5.12 ph (or whatever minimum wage is)
A local restaurant
Rural Yorkshire

It always seems like a lot of work for relatively little reward, and it does irritate me that I work as hard as (or harder than, in some cases) other employees who get paid more, simply because they are a few years older; that's life, I suppose.
