Deducted marks for Displayed formula?

If I were to draw out the displayed formula for a compound, even though it asked for the structural formula, would the mark be lost?

I would think so, seeing as the question specifically asked for structural formula.

Oh right, would you mind explaining to me the difference between the two?

I get so confused, :s-smilie:

Thanks!

Displayed formula is where you draw out all the bonds between the atoms.
Structural formula, you don't draw out all the bonds unless they're significant e.g. double bonds.

Structural formula of e.g. butane is CH3CH2CH2CH3 (written like that)
Displayed formula of butane is the all atoms and bonds drawn out
(Ooh, and molecular formula of butane is C4H10).
