Is living in London a lot more expensive than anywhere else?

Hey, I'm gonna be applying to uni next year and I'm thinking about applying to either UCL or Imperial. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is the cost of living there? Is it worth applying, even with the high cost of living? Are the costs really that much higher than other places in UK? And also what are the good and bad points about both unis? (I live in Swansea at the moment, so its a lot smaller than London )

Lol, yes expensive transport.
Food prices from supermarket shopping isn't too bad.
