This aqa board btw. If the question asks you to report an answer to 3 sig figs and you give to 4 sig figs how many do you lose?

I don't know about AQA but doing Edexcel (also under JCQ) they don't penalise if you have given your answer to a higher precision than the question asked. They aren't going to give a mark just to see if you know what sf is! Its just a misread, and they only want you to give it to 3 sf to standardize the answer. If not how could they check each and every figure?

1 mark unless the markscheme is still lenient because ive seen questions ask to leave it to 3sf but allow you to give other answers
