I'm thinking of applying for medicine at Imperial aswell. Imperial is my dream University and I would do anything to get in:

From reading the requirement it seems that their interview process is based on BMAT scores & Ucas application am I correct? (With the obvious AABBB thing for GCSE )

As a medic how do you find the student life there? So I mean the social life as well as the academic side of it. And if you had a choice would you pick another med school?

I think the student life is great. In general, medics are looked at as the party animals of imperial who never do any work, with the rest of e university being the ones bogged down with work all the time. Whilst this is not really true, in my personal experience I have found that medics are the most up for going out and socialising, aside from geology students but that's a different matter.

Imperial is heavily reliant on the BMAT. Your UCAS is important to of course, but the BMAT is paramount.

Imperial is amazing trust, I dont know what these lot are saying but I know a few people who go there and it truly is all its cracked up to be.

(Also if people don't go out much there "Apparently" then go central London with a few friends on Saturdays)

Also is there freshers week at Imperial like other Universities?

One of my favourite things about Imperial is the massive amount of clubs. So much to do!

does anyone know if there are any open days for 14-15 years olds... I think there was one last week .. any contact would be good.

Does anyone know the weighting on the interview? Is it 100%? Or do they look at your BMAT and everything else again after and make a decision on a combination of factors?

There is freshers' week for all Imperial students. There is freshers' fortnight for medics.

Do you reckon a strong BMAT could make up for lack of EC's etc. to get an interview?

Extra Curricular

oh i think its pretty balanced. They want a strong BMAT score aswell as a reasonable amount of EC's. However getting a strong BMAT can compensate for not much EC's

I don't want to say for certain, but I think so - Aside from volunteering at a local charity shop I didn't regularly do any sports or anything.

Ah okay, thanks! I was just looking on their website and they talk about assessing your PS on things like 'Standing in the community' which concerned me a bit.
I definitely have the motivation I just hope Imperial can see that!

Hey yeah you're basically right. I applied this year and got an offer and was really helped by Freedom of Information requests by a TSR member Revent. It basically gives you the forms the admissions tutors use to assess your application. I'm on my mobile at the moment so I can't attach it but you should be able to find it if you search. Plus any questions about the application process don't hesitate to ask.

Hello,
I might be applying to Imperial - I really want to, but it depends on how my UKCAT goes, and if then I can risk a BMAT uni  Does anyone know the admissions process? Like do they rank people based solely on BMAT scores pre-interview, or do they take GCSE's into account?
Thanks in advance

Hey guys I applied last year and I'm thinking of applying this year since I narrowly missed their BMAT cut off. Basically if you meet the cut off they will then consider your application further by looking at your personal statement and seeing if its good. You can therefore still be rejected by Imperial even if you have a strong BMAT score but not an up to scratch application. From what I believe they don't really look into grades as much! If you miss the BMAT cut off in any section despite doing well in other sections then you will still be rejected!

Hope that helps
