IMechE Student membership, is it worth it?

Hi,

I'm currently nearing the end of my second year doing a BEng pathway which is accredited by IMechE and IET. I'm currently a student member of the IET as their membership was quite cheap. IMechE membership on the other hand is quite expensive at £135.

Has anybody on here joined the IMechE as a student member and how do you find it. Is it worth the money?

I'm pretty sure you can join free as an affiliate member. I remember during my first year they (the IMechE) came to us during one of our lectures and signed us up for free.

Ah sorry, forgot to mention that I'm a part time student! So I have to pay the £135 with these lot :frown:

IET Just seem to send magazines every month which haven't got much of interest to me, no open days or anything advertised.
