As is literally every other rule about appearance. We still follow all the others.

edit: granted most of the time it's not following the rule per se that matters but what not following the rule says about how much you care; but the same can be said for taking unusually long hair to an office environment.


Some rules make much more sense than others.

Hi Mikey, for a corporate job position - it's essential that you wear a smart suit.

You will be competing against other candidates who will be wearing suits and your choice of outfit may be the deciding factor. It gives the interviewer the impression that you haven't made an effort (even though you may have done tons of research!).

A smart suit (& tie!) will definitely ensure you're being taken seriously.

You want to me remembered for your valid answers, personality and corporate fit, not because of your chinos :colondollar:
