Am I obsessed with brushing my teeth ?

On average I brush my teeth around 3 or 4 times a day and I keep on forgetting to put the lid back on the toothpaste and so when my brother goes in the bathroom he knows that I've been brushing my teeth and he always make a MASISVE fuss about it and says that I'm obsessed with my teeth.I always feel the need to brush them though as when I eat something I can feel on the bits on the teeth and so I feel that if I don't clean them then they will start to decay and I really don't want to have any fillings as they look really unattractive and so I always try to keep them as clean as possible. do you think Im obsessed or addicted to doing it or not and I always floss loads !

well it is really important that you don't damage the enamel of your teeth - it would mean sensitive teeth and so you won't be able to eat/drink comfortably as you initially would. Maybe that might help reduce the number of times you brush your teeth? Twice a day is all that is needed, but of course don't stop flossing. Hope that helps!

No, you're just passionate about oral hygiene. Which you should be.

Yeh but the dentist didn't say anything about my teeth enamel last time so I think its ok but yeh I better watch out,I think I might try and become a dentist when I'm older as I just really enjoy keeping my teeth in good condition and so I would like to make other people's teeth nice and clean as well !! And yeh I have to floss loads as I have really narrow gaps between my teeth and food gets stuck all the time

My mum has the exact same hygiene routine, before she goes out she will wash her feet and when she would come back she will wash her feet. You're just really conscious about hygiene that's all.

that is soooo true! you'd make an AMAZING dentist! but i'd love to see how you react to all the people who hardly brush their teeth XD. I guess soo, i mean if your dentist hasn't said anything bout it, then maybe it's not too bad. i'd love to see your teeth tho, they must be as white as white!!!!

Yeh and I think more people should as it shows you have a lack or self respect if you are willing to walk around with dirty feet and dirty teeth I just find it a real turn off

There just normal colour tbh but I'm going to get them whitened when I'm 18 or whatever as my parents won't let me until then ! And thanks that means a lot to me and tbh I'd probably enjoy telling them how to make them cleaner and it would be very self satisfying to be able to clean their teeth and see and most likely smell the difference afterwards ! I especially want to make teenagers more aware of the importance of oral hygiene as I know so many people have fillings and they seem to think its the norm when actually you have to be taking pretty poor care of your teeth to end up with holes in them !! I would like seeing bad teeth though as that's the whole point of the job and the badder the better as it means that I have a bigger challenge to try and improve them meaning even more impressive results !!

Dirty teeth are easy to see but how do you judge if someone has dirty feet when they are wearing shoes? (genuinely interested) :curious:

Excellent idea. Include plans to build a palace solely comprised of listerine bottles.

If they have dirty hair and smelly breath then you can usually make the correct assumption that their feet aren't going to be very clean either. Yu don't see a tramp walking round with shiny white teeth now do you ?

I wouldn't say it's excessive - you just like to take 'extra care' with your teeth. Just be careful to not brush them straight after eating acidic foods as that can damage the enamels.

Omg that sounds amazing and don't get me started on mouthwash I could swish that stuff around my mouth all day long. I love it.My favourite one is the corsodyl one as it has such an intense favour and feels really pleasant in our mouth. Are you serious when you said it was an excellent idea or will it just look like I'm sucking up to the admissions tutor, and do you think I should write something about the listerine palace like I could say my favourite dream of all time involved me building a palace made entirely from listerine bottles

well i can definitely see your enthusiasm for dentistry, esp if you're willing to face those with bad teeth and esp keen to make them look as good as new!

Oh ok that's a good tip but I haven't had a fizzy drink in over 2 years as I only drink water and orange/apple juice. I also always have around 6/7 fruit and vegetables a day and a large glass of milk every morning and I never have takeaways or fast food and don't eat chips because they're covered in grease.I also never have desert after dinner or at lunch and I haven't eaten crips for around 2/3 years so I don't think this should be something I should be concerned about !
