Struggling to find anything good to say about today's session.
Press: 47.5kg 3x5
V handle pulldown: 61kg 3x8
Squat: 120kgx5,3, 110kgx6
Dips: 3x6, these were terrible.
Bench: 62.5kgx5,5,10,7
Curlz: 27.5kgx10, 25kgx12,12
Squat: 120kgx5,5,5, did 70kgx10 afterwards.
Overhead cable extensions: 13.75kgx12,16.25kgx12,12
Weigh in: 71.45kg

Good session, I didn't even feel like I was about to die when squatting until the last 120kg set.
I love those cable extensions, get such a nice tricep pump from them.

So happy with today's session. Decided to sacrifice a few DL reps to try and get a power clean PB. GREAT SUCCESS. :woo:

Press: 50kgx5,5,6 and 40kgx8 to finish off.
Lat pulldowns: 61kg 3x8
Power cleans: 60kgx3, 65kgx3, 70kgx1, 72.5kgxf,1, 75kgx2, 77.5kgx1, 80kgx1,1. :woo: Bolded were all PBs at the time - highest I've attempted previously was 70kg.
I think if it was all I was going to do that session, I might have managed 85kg or more, as it was I had to save myself for DL afterwards. 90kg would be ****ing awesome. Failed the first 72.5kg as I messed up my timings, it got to my belly button and then stopped.
DL: 100x5, 120x1, 125x5.
Weigh in: 70.95kg

Got a guy to video my first 80kg attempt, will upload in a bit.

Can't decide if I should redo 125kg DL next week and go for more reps (doing fewer cleans), or just push on to 130kg?

Updated first post with goals, as otherwise the thread is a bit aimless.
Bench: 65kgx5,5,10,6
Curlz: 27.5kgx12,12, 25kgx12
Overhead extensions: 16.25kg 3x12
Squat: 122.5kgx5,3,3. Really grind-y.
I keep watching videos of oly lifts and its making me want to take it up. Snatch is definitely the coolest looking lift in existence.
Hoping I can do them at one of the gyms, either the uni one (think I heard it had bumpers, although they got rid of their platform) or the one near tesco. If I can I'm gonna try find some sort of program where I can focus on oly lifts but still get some aesthetics work in.
Press: 52.5kg 3x5, 25kg 5x10 (Thought I'd try this out, as I feel a plateau approaching)
pulldowns: 68kgx8,61kgx8,8
Squat: 122.5kg 3x5 These were good. 60kg 3x10 Was trying for 5x10 @60kg but had to go get a shower as I was getting picked up 10 mins after.
Dips x8,6,6. Supersetted with the 60kg squats as we have to put two bars across the squat rack to do dips, so figured I may as well.
Weigh in: 71.15kg
Today's session:
Bench: 67.5kgx5, 5, 9, 6, 32.5kgx10, 35kgx10,10

Power Cleans: 60kgx3, 70kgx2, 80kgx1, 90kgxf
I know I said it was an end of year goal, but they were feeling good, and thought 90kg was worth a go. Got it to the bottom of my chest, maybe could've caught it if I'd squatted further under it.
Going to keep doing 80kg every week now, even if its only a single.

DL: 130kgx5, 2.
Not happy with these, just felt like I had no grip at all.
100kgx5 tried to do these quickly, just to get used to moving heavier weights quicker.
60kgx10,10 Again, did these quickly.

Curls: 25kgx12,12,12

overhead extensions: 16.25kg x12,12,12

I've also swapped my normal daily chins for close grip chins in sets of 4, as they're harder to do.
Whats with the reps on the bench? Don't you progress when you've got 3x5 or whatever or do you just want more volume in there?

In the past I've always stalled either at 67.5kg or 70kg doing 3x5, so I did some more volume to help keep it going - along the lines of the 5,3,1 BBB 5x10 @50%, I only did the 3 sets though, as I'd already added a 4th work set. I want to delay the stall as much as possible.

Were you coached on how to power clean mate? I think they look really cool and I'd like to learn them but some say you need a coach, some say it's not that hard to learn? :smile:

I haven't had any coaching (although I know lots of people suggest it for the oly lifts), I watched loads of youtube videos to start off. Once I got going I posted some videos of my lifts up on here for advice on them, got some very helpful posts, then tried to implement the advice I'd been given. So whilst an actual coach isn't needed, its very helpful if you have some way of getting feedback and suggestions on them.

They're definitely the lift I look forward to every week.
today's:
Press: 55kgx5,5,3 FUUUU so close
pulldowns: 68kgx8,8, 61kgx8
Squat: 125kgx5,3,3 Seeing a pattern here, hopefully the pattern holds up and I hit 3x5 on monday :biggrin: 60kgx10,10
dips: 3x8 Getting better.

Not a bad session, moving into uni tomorrow, so my next session will be in a different gym.
Went with simply gym as the uni gym was horrifically crowded when I had a look round.

Press: 50kgx5, 55kgx5, 50kgx5
Cleans: Did a ****load of these. 60kg for many triples, 70 kg for a few triples, 80kgx1,f,f, 60kg for many triples again.
DL: 120kgx2, 135kgx4
pulldowns: 65kgx6,6, 60kgx7
Snatch: 20kg for lots, just getting used to the movement.

Press felt good, flew up for the 50kg sets, and got slightly better depth on the 55kg than I would have normally. (Below chin rather than to chin)
Still interested in making the switch to oly lifting, so thought doing a lot of cleans and practicing technique would be beneficial, wanted to get at least a double at 80kg, but it wasn't happening.
DL was disappointing, but to be expected.
Trying to learn to snatch, so just worked with the bar for these, feels like I need some weight on the bar so I have something to work against though. Did some overhead squats with the bar afterwards - really difficult to stay stable on these - perhaps some mobility work is needed.

I'm thinking if I swap to oly lifting, I'll maybe do a specific session to work on aesthetics as well, seeing as I won't be getting any arm or chest work done with the oly lifts. (Something like mon/wed/fri oly, then do arms/chest on sat?)

Previous was 70x5 with no other sets, so yes :biggrin:
