Medicine Essay Competitions

Hey, I've seen online that medical students are able to enter essay competitions (eg. set by the RSM). I was wondering if any medical students on TSR have entered before or know of anyone who has? I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experience. Would you say that you'd need to be up to a certain year of study before even attempting to do one? I know it's summer, but I've got a couple of weeks where I've got no plans. Some of the topics look quite interesting but I don't want to bother if I'm going to be too out of my depth...
:burnout:
I was a runner up for the Intellectual Disability Forum student prize back in 2012. I just submitted a revision of my SSC on foetal alcohol spectrum disorders that I wrote in my second year of medical school. To be completely honest, I wouldn't waste your time on it. You would be better off undertaking work experience or even some basic research at your stage.
