Lab technician with a chemical engineering degree?

I was wondering if I would be able to have a career as a lab technician if I chose to do chemical engineering at university? I really enjoy chemistry, especially the more experimental side of it so a job in a lab would be ideal for me.

Also are there many careers within chemical engineering which would be mainly lab based?

Look into chem eng more, I made a similar mistake.... I thought Chem eng was like chemistry..... it really isn't
