Cancer

Hi, i'm writing my personal statement and i'm including a section about my personal experience of cancer and i need some more information about the mechanism of cancer, ive put that it can be caused by mutations in tumor suppressor genes, DNA repair genes and proto-oncogenes, which results in uncontrollable mitosis and the formation of tumors. Is this information correct? and how is apoptosis stopped?
