How was it in the first year

How is the university itself

Why did you pick Birmingham over UCL?

First year isn't really as hard as people make out providing you put in the hard work and a first is within everyone's reach. Remember if you got into the course you've been accepted because the admissions know you can handle the course, so dont think your might not cope well. .

The uni is really really good and is quite highly rated. It has a large campus.

I never applied to UCL.

Following this thread, firmed UCL Chem eng AAA offer but have a terrible feeling I might have just missed it.

I'm hoping UCL may be lenient on people who have missed their grades.

What do you think the chances of that are?

And what subject do you feel you may have missed your grades on?

Probably chemistry, I just got an A last year and a high B in Jan so I need a solid A on the last paper.

I have a feeling UCL aren't particularly lenient from the response I got back from an admissions tutor. But time will tell I guess, the government cap for ABB or higher grades was increased this year so that might have an effect but it's hard to tell if that will actually translate to them being lenient or not, or the -department- being more lenient.

Yeah exactly, that's what I'm hoping. I was wondering, would you reckon Manchesters clearing offers would still be AAA? Sheffields initital offers were AAB, but they're offering places in clearing for ABB.

It will depend on the demand for it

ChemEng is in demand and is still quite unpopular which may be good

AAB should not be too high though
At the top of the Birmingham clearing list it says:
"we are only able to consider applicants with grades ABB or better for these vacancies."
Does that mean that someone with ABB+ can apply for chem eng which requires AAA through clearing?
