Hi guys, just thought it'd be great to start a thread for all new students coming to Queen Mary this year to have a nice chat ahead of Fresher's Week. No one I know is going there so I'm left meeting new people :colondollar:

Have you got accommodation?
Unfortunately the closest I could find was 30-40 mins away by train in a private hall :frown:

I feel like I'm gonna be missing out on all the socialising.
Just curious, did you meet the requirements of your offer? I was one grade off and I got in. Feeling special ;o

QM was my insurance though so I'm not about accommodation or finance and term starts on the 1st for me! D:

I'm doing the SEFP (computer science).
Commuting as well as I already live in central London, didn't really see the point in paying £6k+ just to be a tad closer to university. Plus as I've heard, if you live in London your chances are slim to none to get into student halls.
I also feel I'll be missing out a bit but I guess I'll be doing my best to attend everything xD

Lol term is on the 16th for me.. how far from the uni do you live? If I stayed at home it would be a 2 hour commute everyday D:

Huh Sept 1st? I'm doing Physics too. I haven't had a letter or anything from QM yet to say when I start though.

I don't have accommodation until the 14th though...

im doing biomedical sciences - also got in with one grade down :smile:

Going to be in Beaumont court on campus! So excited!!!

i keep finding general London freshers stuff when I search - anyone know if QM have thier own freshers stuff???

I'm studying French and Comparative Lit, but i'm commuting also, slightly worried about freshers as I have to travel back on trains for about 30 mins, also the tickets are selling fast! QMUL freshers info is all on facebook, just search QMUL and you will find it! :smile:

Hey guys im studying English and Drama and living off campus in a private flat (since qm rejected me housing coz im from London)

Im in the same position OP as I know no one at qm yet so i think this thread is perfect for me.

btw who is going to the Tiger Tiger icebreaker event? im going with two friends and for anyone who knows nobody and wants to come along and not go alone just message me :smile:
