I.

I wanted to ask a question. I'm thinking about mathematical science, look here
http://www.city.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/mathematical-science

How is this? How much does it differ from Bsc Mathematics? Is mathematical science just more applied, or are there any other main differences? If there are, what main differences are there?

Thanks a lot:smile:

I'm quite pleased with, considering I thought I'd done terribly after this summer's exams. I'm considering applying for Mathematics with Economics at Warwick, LSE, Bristol, Nottingham, St. Andrews at the moment. Does anyone know if any of these universities ask for UMS scores and if these scores would be good enough?

I've had a look, and it appears that the degree contains some pure maths to give you a background in applied maths, it seems to lean towards applied maths for user in industry, and it has some impressive graduate recruitment statistics

These scores are pretty good however you'll need to continue to maintain such scores in the A levels. Also I believe Durham are starting to ask for A*s?

How do people think I should arrange my modules? And is D2 and/or M1 worth resitting? I completely ballsed up... I made loads of little mistakes... :/

AQA Mathematics
C1 - 96
C2 - 100
D1 - 98

Total - 294 (98%)

AQA Further Mathematics

FP1 - 98
M1 - 79
D2 - 79

Total - 256 (85.3%)

If I swapped M1 and D1 I'd be at 275 (91.7%) in each...

What do you guys think?

Just wondering - is my M1 score going to hurt an Engineering application (Durham)?

Physics applicant
for edexcel maths, which would you recommend to do this year- S2 or D1? As i really didnt like all the physics calculations in physics GCSE but managed them, and really liked S1 (got 95% in AS) but have heard D1 is much easier than S2?

I'll be studying Accounting and Business at Reading in October. I was wondering if any of you Mathematics applicants found the A-level a bit tedious? Learn a formula - apply it; learn a formula - apply it, etc. Did it really test our logic and problem-solving skills? I can't imagine that it adequately prepares students for a degree in the subject. I guess you have F. Maths and Step for that?
