Matriculation Ceremony
Do parents/partners come to the matriculation ceremonies? And what generally happens at them and throughout the day?

No, partners/parents are not invited to matriculation. I suspect it varies college to college, but on the day of matriculation we had photographs (indiviudal and a group) followed by matriculation itself where you go in to the sheldonian and listen to them give a brief talk about the university (and some stuff in latin). We followed this up with a group matriculation breakfast (with champagne) and then proceeded to get steadily more drunk throughout the day.
