New Zealand passes bill to spy on citizens to 'prevent terrorism' - Epic lies

New Zealand parliament recently passes legislation enabling the government to spy on its citizens in a similar way to the NSA and GCHQ. This is despite there not being a terrorist attack in New Zealand territory since 1985 and even this attack was done by the French. So it seems to me like something murkier why are all governments starting to do this regardless of the actual terrorism?

If that is the case then it's incredibly unnecessary and purely an excuse to snoop on citizens.

Absolutely.

The surveillance thing is done to ensure the public remains like cattle so they can keep enriching themselves with a certain degree of tranquility.
