If memory serves me correctly, 1300 is maximum, so I doubt your teacher would ask for 1500.

I wrote 807 words exactly in both the essays I sent away and got a B. Quality over quantity (even though mine was low-quality haha)

Minimum is 750, max is 1300. However, I think to achieve high marks (19+) your essays will need to be at least 1000. I would say your current word count is fine if you do not need to remove or add anything as this could mean your essay becomes "waffly".
