I'm a little worried that we're only doing one text in class before the prelim, but we'll have to do two in the prelim...

And why would your school do one text if you needed to do two in the prelim?
they want you to pass yaknow.

^^You'll probably study a poem on top of your first text ahead of the prelim, or they'll ask you to study one on your own?
I found this : micklavelle.wordpress.com/2012/10/26/reflective-essay-examples/

It has 3 reflective essays with very detailed marking instructions. It really helps to compare your own essay to the high scoring ones.
Hello I have like hundreds of homework for English every week
For this week I've had 5 pieces to hand in and then my essay!
I was wondering how I could study for the textual analysis as I have a nab soon and I feel that I am not always on the ball at that part?

Practice; you'll probably do some examples in class, of poems, drama and prose to give you a chance to get used to it.
Focus on literary techniques; revise how different aspects of word choice/imagery/structure/etc. can convey the idea of the poem, look out for an extended metaphor, etc.

Trying to do a discursive essay on the importance of grammar, and I feel like are all my points are getting jumbled up, and I have no real sense of direction. Any tips ?

Yes, though you have to remember you are not guaranteed to get what they tell you.

Make a plan outlining what you have to talk about in each paragraph. Separate each point into a paragraph and it shouldn't jumble up as much.

The NABs are different each year. The teachers have a choice of a bank of NABs to choose from.
Welcome to TSR!
We have been told we have to do something on a film.

The film is 'The Great Gatsby'

So I'm going to watch it, can anyone tell me what sort of response I will be writing?

No problem!
Okay, so I've decided to scrap my previous discursive essay idea, as it wasn't very good but now I've brought it down to two different ideas and I was wondering which ones I should do:

1. Gender Roles in society - this essay would discuss ideas of feminism, the fact that gender cannot be limited to Male or Female, sexuality etc

OR

2. Internet Privacy - this essay will discuss tracking, the fact that nothing we ever truly do is private and everything we can do get can linked back to us, anonymity very rarely actually exists on the internet etc

So, which one should I do ? I'm interested in both of them and while I'm more passionate about the second one, I think there will be more sources available for the first topic.

Thoughts ?

I would do the one on gender roles. Then you could put your personality in and say how you think feminism is stupid/good etc.
You could then expand on it and ask if the current society is equal in your opinion

The most important thing is the quality of the essay; maybe try writing a bit of both and decide which you're happier with in terms of expression and content. Personally, I would write the first one because that interests me more, but definitely choose the one you would be more motivated to write.

Maybe look up recent news articles concerning both topics to see if there is anything topical which could make the essay relevant and have a line of thought throughout it?
