I live just in a red area. On my road, there is the border between a red and a light blue one!
Mine is yellow! More than I expected, tbh.
Most of my town is 5, except my area which is 2. Awkward. (It makes sense though, I don't live in a great area. My school's area is a 5 though).

I just thought this was interesting and didn't know where else to put it.

They're not postcodes, they're electoral wards.
Also it's not all related to poverty, Looking at London I can see that Stamford Hill and the City are both islands of red. Stamford Hill is red because there's a large devout Jewish community there that probably doesn't do mainstream university and I can only assume that the City is red because nobody lives there.
Anyone found somewhere with less than 7.2%?

It would be interesting to compare this map to one of wealth/income.

There is one , cant remember where, think it was a council website. But i can tell you that my area matches exactly according to poverty etc , The better areas where people work are yellow / orange and the red are benefit areas . The very nice villages are all blue .Says it all.

Do you know of the others that do? Do they do it for medicine?.. :colondollar:

I couldn't give you a full list of which universities actively go out of their way to look at contextual data, so I think it's best to look at each university's website (or even to google "Queen Mary widening participation" or "Queen Mary contextual data" or whichever uni it is.

In addition, most universities have some sort of widening participation / access scheme. The vast majority limit theirs to those from the local area (which town / county are you from?), but Leeds has a non-geographic criteria to get onto their scheme.

I'd also suggest asking on the medicine forum, which is a fantastic resource http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=195

Mine too. Not complaining though; I'm interested to see if it'd make any difference...

My street is just into a dark blue area, 5. It's literally a street away from a yellow bit!

I'm in a little dark blue area sandwiched between two red areas. The latter are both council estates - it's scarily accurate.

I don't know whether to feel good or bad about this.

My bad - serves me right for stealing from Reddit. I didn't say anything about poverty, though. That was someone else.
Actually shocked that my town is in quintile 5.

Wait..I think it's 3

Quintile 4, lots of people are saying 1, I call bull**** as it is heavily romanticized to be working class and successful in todays society.

Shankill in Belfast.
Quintile 3. Hmm somewhat expected higher considering lots of people view university as a way to escape / be near civilisation

I live in the red (quintle 1)... Fairly near quintle 5... Explains everything because round here you either have no money or loads of money O_o

15.1% where I live, really interesting  Nice to see the huge difference between sides of the river, for my town.
Quintile 1.. 8.4% (It's actually more that what I though  )

My town is Red mostly and then orange in a couple places and then the further away you get from my town it starts to get bluer.
