East Slope, woo!

Yes, especially as you're signing a tenancy agreement which is a legally binding document. Techincally they could ask you to pay rent even if you didn't get in.

Actually theyd be making a lot more work for thyemselves if they allocated accomodation to everyone before results, then had to change it all around when some people didn't make the grades.

Surely you'd have to change it less though, the majority of people meet their offers! If it was me i'd just stick people in as and when i got the forms, then when i knew who'd missed their offers you could put people who hadn't had a room allocated yet into the ones who weren't coming!

But i am not envious at all of those people assigning rooms...not a fun job however you do it.

I didn't mean they should send out all the tenancy agreements, just the fact that they say they don't look at forms at all until results day - surely you'd start sorting them and stuff before then, in which case it may be affected by the order forms are received. but this way is technically fairer as everything received before the deadline gets the same treatment.

I was only musing though i'm sure their way is best, just seems odd since so many people i met from east slope had wanted to be in lewes court, and many people in lewes court had sent forms back quite late or whatever.

Damn I should have just put down Lewes Court and hoped for the best then. Oh well.

Another weird thing is that Aberystwyth wanted a photo of my lovely self on their accomodation form. Reckon they try to match-make people or something?

Although they don't officially allocate accommodation to people with conditional offers until results day they do seem to take note of when people returned their forms. Loads of my housemates last year ended up in Holland House cos they sent their forms off late and nobody else wanted to live off campus.

If you haven't been allocated accomodation yet you can e-mail the housing office and make alterations in you application form :p:

buuut I'm so lazy. I'll just think of all the delicious money I'm saving by going for the cheapo accomodation.

I think any time after the official deadline, whatever that is. Don't panic though, it won't happen to everybody and living off campus really isn't the end of the world

I was in lewes court and two of my flatmates sent their forms back really late and still managed to sneak in so i wouldn't worry too much!

Woo, I've just got my tenancy agreement! I'm in East Slope 013E, anyone else? Does anyone know anything about this flat? Whereabouts on the slop, number of people in it etc..

If your looking directly at East Slope, it is...

on the far left of the slope, at the bottom, so you don't have to scale any steps.

Your flats about 30 - 40 secs from the bar, which is handy.

inside, you will be in the downstairs corridor, located in the second to last room.
You will be sharing with rougthly 8-10 people, between two bathrooms.

I knew someone in flat 12, and he socialised with practically everyone in flats 13, 14, 15 so on.

You should have fun.

HAS ANYONE BEEN ALLOCATED A ROOM IN FLAT 53?????

i lived there in my first year - best place ever to live. you go in and theres like a kitchen which goes into the dining room/lounge bit, bathroom off here and then two corridors with some rooms on each. bedrooms have like bed, desk, wardrobe, chest of drawers etc. big windows, and the refurbed ones are phat, thats where i was. seriously wicked!

I also lived in the slope in my first year, and thought I should weigh this up with the negatives:

- Thin walls. I knew exactly how often my mate next door was having sex.
- Infestations. We had your average flies, ear wigs, ants and, wait for it, ****ing cockroaches. Oh yeah and daddy long legs, which are just horrible.
- Steps. I lived at the top of them, which is one hell of a walk on a drunken night.
- The kitchen was ****ty and old
- As were the toilets and showers
- My bed broke after about 2 weeks
- The carpet was old, thin and brown

However, you get a lot of respect just for living there. And to be fair I do look back on my days there as if they were somehow magical. So it'll be great!

Yes. The sight of them haunts me still.
Pics are up.

I lived in posh ES. The only filth we had was self generated.

Note to self: Must buy earplugs, Raid and an inflatable mattress for half way up stairs, if I get into East Slope.

Although, just think how much all the East Slopers will be in awe of their palaces in the second year!!
