The Student Room Group

Welcome to the Cambridge University Forum! Please read :)

Hello and welcome to the Cambridge forum! Before we get started, you should know that when talking about university admissions we normally refer to the year people will start university. So the people who go through the process of applying, interviews, etc in Autumn 2017 are called "2018 applicants".

You probably want to chat with other applicants or offer holders: go introduce yourself in Cambridge Freshers 2018 or in Cambridge Applicants 2019 Entry.

Now you've said hello, want to ask a current (or past) Cambridge student something? You're in the right place!

We have a thread for each Cambridge course and every Cambridge college. There's another page on Choosing a Cambridge College. If you've got questions about individual courses and colleges then those threads are a great place to quickly ask the people who know the answers. They're also a place for you to meet other applicants and current students. Say hi!

We also have a thread for asking Are my grades good enough for Cambridge?. Also pay attention to the Guide to UMS averages when applying to Cambridge.

If your question is more about the practicalities or wonders of Cambridge life (and isn't college or course specific) you might want to try the What do you want to know about Cambridge? thread. Of course you're very welcome to start a new thread about anything Cambridge related. You might also find A Week in the Life: Cambridge edition to be an interesting read.

As well as the forums, TSR has a huge number of wiki resources relating to Cambridge. The Cambridge guide is a good place to start - you'll find links to other information in the header of that page.

Another great resource is the Alternative Prospectus produced by current Cambridge Students: https://www.applytocambridge.com

If you are looking for info on postgrad applications to Cambridge your best port of call is the TSR Postgraduate Forum. And this is the Cambridge specific thread for Postgrad Applicants 2019
https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5205742

Also here's a quick FAQ on the main graduate application status messages.

If you are a student rather than an applicant - we have a thread just for you!
The Cambridge Chat Thread's Starter for Ten - 'No, you lose five points!'

Sorry for that barrage of information. Don't worry if this intro doesn't make too much sense, feel free to ignore me - people managed to find their way around the forum for the nine years before I wrote this! But if you have any questions whatsoever about how things work then never hesitate to ask... or just cross your fingers and hope! Have fun!

In addition to the above, TSR is very fortunate to have a number of Official Cambridge Admissions Reps. Over the years their posts and threads have built into an excellent resource for any current or potential applicants. This post aims to provide a master list of their most important threads. Note, the advice and info given is generally applicable across ALL colleges not just their own unless stated in the thread, but if you have any doubts or very specific queries please contact your own college direct.

TOP TIP: Please read an AT's thread before you post in it - you might find a similar question already answered
