law, business or foreign language

Hi there

If you had the choice between a degree in law, business or foreign language*

Which one would you pick and why?
Also would you consider combining any if these?

Off you go

At any uni you like
To be honest, that really depends what you want to do afterwards - and which you find more interesting. Not a straightforward question.

Well for me its certain that my degree needs to be flexible so for me
I want to study german with any other subject
Atm i believe it will be business because it intrests me more
However ive heard there are not many prospects with that

Thats why i put law there aswell

Really I suppose again it depends where you go. If you are targeting a traditionally prestigious uni then law is a good option.

If it is more a post 1992 uni (nothing wrong with that) then I'd suggest business.

This isn't due to any snobbishness- the ex polys generally do very strong business courses with access to employers through placements and sandwich years whereas law firms etc don't seem to rate their law degrees very highly at all.

Languages is a great skill as well, but if you intend to do it anyway that's fine.

Personally I would choose a foreign language out of those. If you were to combine it I would go with business- doing law with german isn't any more use than straight law unless you wish to specialise in german/EU law (though a language with any degree does look good). German/business is a really good combination- employers will love you if you have a language, especially german for business, and the placement year abroad is really good for getting internships and furthering career prospects etc.
