David Blunkett gone mad about online porn.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-24223744
Drawing a parallel with Germany before the rise of the Nazis, he suggested a loose moral climate had fed the paranoia and fear that had allowed Adolf Hitler to flourish. "In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Berlin came as near as dammit to Sodom and Gomorrah. There was a disintegration of what you might call any kind of social order.
It's as though they don't want to be elected next term. Labour's shadow minister for media reform continues the trend with her mental comments and internet control desire.

I guess the anti-porn frenzy comparing watching two (or sometimes more) adults having consensual sex on the internet to a fascist, mass murdering regime will die down soon. Porn's just become a really cool thing to blame everything from global warming to the genocidal North Korean government on lately, but it's only a fad.

David Blunkett gave us A4e; he is now meaningless.

Dear David,
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
I saw this, I couldn't believe Godwins Law has managed to work its way into main stream politics.

"I think we have a job in this country, in a civilised, free, open democracy, to protect ourselves from the most bestial activities and from dangers that would undermine a civilised nation."

He also seems to be confusing the general porn block and the IWF child abuse filter possibly?

Oi! Blunkett! Naaaaaaoooooooooo!!!
Tbh he probably can't see the point of it
David Blunkett is campaigning against obscene images? I was about to make a tasteless comment about that being rather difficult to justify for someone who has never actually seen an obscene image, and then I remembered that the Tories are in power in a time of budget cuts and falling living standards: a party of Old Etonian millionaires who think 'austerity' is being served prosecco instead of champagne at their school reunion.

Poor fellow, he's probably just acting out because he can't watch it without someone doing audio description.

He's just jealous because he can't watch it

Agh, pipped to the post
Strange thing for him to say.
An opt-in system for porn is frankly ridiculous. I'm glad Lib Dem members voted against it.

 Audio description for porn would be brilliant!

Weimar Berlin (and belle époque Paris) seem pretty fun places to be.

Anyway, pornography (essentially an act of voyeurism; watching to adults having consensual sex) hardly represents a disintegration of social order, does it? Linking it with the rise of the Nazis is an almost offensively trivial comparison to make.

It must be awful being blind.
How is a blind person allowed to lecture us on what we can and can't look at?

What is his problem?

I don't agree with him either but he can't help that he's blind. He can still have opinions

He can have opinions, but clearly it's not worth much here. How can he make a decision on something he has never seen? Im not being unfair, but he's blind, it's not right for him to make a decision on something that relies so heavily on the one sense he (unfortunately) doesn't have.

I'm referring to the moral sense that he can't interfere in something people consent to. You don't need to like or see porn to appreciate free choice.

Fair enough, that's a given. I hope he is ignored.
