10 White men jailed for sexually abusing 13 year old

Ten men have been jailed for a total of 34 years after sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl who posted a profile on a dating website.

Dozens of men contacted the teenager after seeing her details online - but while many broke off contact when they discovered her true age, others continued to pursue her for sex.

A total of 30 suspects from all around the country, none of whom knew each other, committed offences against the girl, including having sex with her and persuading her to send explicit pictures of herself.

The girl, from North Yorkshire, was left mentally scarred by her experiences, and is now receiving intensive professional help.

She made the dating profile, on which she claimed to be 18, because she was looking for a romantic relationship, but the men who responded were only interested in sex.

The paedophiles ranged in age from 20 to 45, with one 14-year-old boy also implicated.

The first offender, 39-year-old Mark Harris, had sex with the girl shortly after she turned 13 after meeting her through a friend.

Harris, who was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, was 'turning a frightened child into a very sexualised child'.

Mark Lindsay, 33, encouraged the victim to lie to her parents, telling them she was having a sleepover with a friend when she was in fact travelling to his house for sex.

Her mother suspected something was wrong after the girl got lost on her way home, and examined her mobile phone.

She found a large number of highly sexual text messages and pictures on the child’s mobile phone and handed it to officers. They used it and other evidence to track down the suspects.

The men who were found to have had sexual contact with the girl included a teacher, a shop worker, a travelling salesman and others.

Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Mason, head of crime at North Yorkshire Police, said: 'This investigation uncovered large-scale exploitation of a child for the sexual gratification of several men, some of whom were married and had successful careers.

'Although some of the suspects ceased all contact with the girl when they discovered her age, many didn’t and they have been punished appropriately for their crimes.

'The scale of the data analysed to reach such a conclusion is matched only by the determination and dedication of the investigation team and our safeguarding partners all of whom acted in close partnership. I am very proud of their efforts in what was a difficult investigation.

'We all have a responsibility to ensure our children are safe and to that end North Yorkshire Police works with numerous agencies to educate professionals, parents and children to safeguard children from harm.'

One man is still awaiting sentence, one has received a community order while others have been cautioned.

The 12 men who were convicted were banned from working with children for life and placed on the sex offenders register.

Claude Knights, chief executive of national child safety charity Kidscape, said: 'These are very, very serious crimes. I think this case reinforces the message that parents should talk to their children about their online activity and should increase their own knowledge of the internet.'

THE 12 MEN WHO COMMITTED SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING THE CHILD

Mark Andrew Harris, 39, of York, jailed for four years and six months for two offences of having sexual activity with a child.

Adam James Noble, 24, of Hessay, near York, convicted of four sexual offences involving children, admitted a fifth and was jailed for six years.

Craig Spencer Wilkinson, 32, of Scarborough. Admitted eight sexual charges and was jailed for six years.

Mark Stuart Lindsay, 33, of Grasby, Grimsby. Jailed for four and a half years for having sexual activity with a child, grooming a child for sex and arranging a sex meeting with a child.

Philip Andrew Scaife, 30, of Sheriff Hutton, jailed for two years and eight months for eight sex offences.

Mark Long, 34, of Harrogate, jailed for two years and eight months for seven sex offences.

Matthew Gareth Horrocks, 30, of Acomb, jailed for two years and four months for two offences of involving a child in sexual activity.

Tobias Robert Tobin, 23, of Wetherby. Jailed for 15 months for five sexual offences.

John Paul Sebastian Sterckx, 37, of Rhoose, jailed for 15 months for ten sexual offences.

As is standard on TSR, by looking at their names and race, we can deduce that many of them may be Christians (obviously not true Christians).

Overall though, this is pretty shocking stuff. I think the sentences are also very light.

No, you cannot deduce that many of them are Christians at all.

As awful as this is why is the fact that they're white explicitly mentioned in the title of the thread? It's even capitalized.

Hard to say how light they are without knowing which 'sexual offences' they are, some are at 6 years which is quite a bit.

Probably a mix of Christian and atheist/agnostic given recent census data, though not sure how it's relevant. If they are Christians depends on how you define 'true', fairly certain plenty of Priests have been caught doing similar things in the past.

its a point being made about the racial aspect to un-related cases.. papers reporting stories saying '12 muslim mean beat up a young girl' etc.. and how crimes are often reported with racial information that is not related to the crime.. but is only their to sell stories and raise public racial tension..

It's interesting you bring this up. Typically if it was another race, white people (atleast some) like to isolate their race/culture/religion as a determinant factor. But when stuff like this happens, you hear nothing but crickets :holmes:

Yeah, it's like a racial aspect, except Islam isn't a race. Simpleton.

I didn't realise it was a competition between religions over who's abused the most children.

Lets just call it a draw.

And to those people who say the if the perpetrators are white then no-one hears about it? Haven't they heard of the Catholic Church scandal?

I wonder if the OP is actually a muslim or is just being a stereotype of a muslim for trolling purposes.

The subtlety went way over your head...

Maybe I should have added a horde of smilies, or some over exaggerated punctuation to make it more clear..

When ten separate men who have no connection to one another sexually assault a child the concerning issue is one of perversion. When 10 men of the same community with similar backgrounds conspire together to sexually assault a child, then the concerning issue may be one of culture. Especially when that child is targeted specifically for being from a different culture. If such a case were to occur on multiple occasions within the same culture then apparent cultural concern becomes a definite and serious one.

There is undeniably an issue amongst some white men regarding sexual perversion. Do any other groups want to acknowledge their issues?

the victims were also white.

the scandal about the asian peadophiles is that they are racist -- they target underage white girls specifically because they are white.

He's making a point that if the perpetrators were of Asian descent or muslim, newspapers and tsr alike would typically mention their ethnicity/religion in the title.

The only reason you've made this thread is because there's been so many reports of muslims abusing children/raping young girls that you feel the need to do yourself justice by reciprocating some incidence when its not someone Islamic for once.

Massive LOL at the OP in stressing to us that they're white.

Give me 2 minutes.
I don't think it's fair that Islam is always focused on in a negative light and I think that it's wrong that Islamic offenders have stuff about their religion and race in an article about what they did (such as Pakistani Muslim kills Briton would make headlines however British man kills Briton wouldn't, the British media is very biased and racist) but I have to say, I wouldn't assume them to be Christians. The vast majority of Britons today are turning more and more to atheism or agnosticism and so claiming that they're Christians just because they're white Britons is a little bit tenuous.
When i saw it on the daily mail, i said to myself if these were pakistani/ muslim men

Thered be;

1) 10 times the amount of comments
2) Would be the breaking news and at the front/beginning of paper
3) Would be the block letters that they were asian/muslim men

Oh well
imagine if it was "10 muslim men".

I really don't think sexual assault should be used to score brownie points in some vendetta against right wing media.

What has the colour of their skin got to do with anything? I smell racism.
