Open Mic Nights/Bands

Hey, noticed there was karaoke the other day, are there ever any open mic nights? Also where would I advertise if I wanted to start a band?

Hey! There are no open mic nights on campus as of yet, but I have spoken to the owner of the graduate pub just round the corner and plan to host one later this month, supposed to be the 19th but not definite yet. But also there are alot of open mics just near by in newcastle, the full moon every sunday night in newcastle hosts a great open mic and the host hollie is great who is a friend of mine, it's a great crowd there too! Also there's one that another friend of mine does on tuesday nights at the black friar also in newcastle  So basically newcastle is your best bet for open mics!

As for bands, take a look in music mania's window in hanley, they sometimes post ads for bands looking for members. Or you could even get in a band or form a new one of your own by getting ya contacts from the open mic

Oh! I should mention i aint a member of staff or anything, just a fellow music enthusiast who has lived in the area all her life aha!

Hope this info helps you and good luck!!!

Yeah, that helps a lot, I like the Grad, would prefer to stay within the campus area so I know people & it can be a laugh, do you know if there's an ad board in the uni anywhere?
My partner is in a band and they host open mics in burslem every wednesday and in Hartshill every 2nd friday of the month.

Depending on what music you're into, if you want to form a band at uni, I'd join RAMS (Rock, alt & Metal Society) You'll probably find a lot of people there.

Last year there were a few open mics at Verve, but they weren't very often. Plus it was run by creative writing soc as I remember so there were a lot of poets.
