Why do people think students have more influence now tuition fees are £9k?

Its clearly not a free market no. That was never the main point of the fees though. University funding has to come from somewhere: either the graduates pay or everyone pays for the graduates. The former makes a lot more sense.

I've read that oxford and york want to increase fees to £16,000 a year. When the SLC is privatized in 2015 this will probably happen. Students are being taken for a joke.

Personally as I'm starting uni next year, all I've been doing recently is worrying about money and how much I can save and how on earth I'm meant to pay my debts in the future

"Scottish infrastructure"? Eh? Where are you coming from? Care to expand on that? I'll come back to you next year if Scotland votes "yes" to independence and see if they can still afford free tuition fees post independence day!
