LSE Lectures : are they worth attending

Hi

I was introduced to the fact that many places such as LSE , royal geographical society and UCL , run lectures which are Available toe the public.

I was thinking this could be brilliant thing to put on a personal statement as it shows that you are taking an intrest in the subject you are applying for.

Has anyone been to any of these ?

Perhaps not the best way to get a polite answer! I recently went to a lecture at the LSE and found it quite good... I got the impression from others at the lecture that quality varied but if you go to an interesting one they are well worth it! Great for personal statements and to talk about at interview even if its just to show an interest and the talk wasn't great.

Hope this helps!

Some are good, some are bad. I've been to two lectures and I didn't like either. Not to mention the 40 min travel only to get to LSE. Then it costs to get on the train.

Although if I lived near Holborn eg. 10 min away then I'd be going to plenty.

I've sat in on lectures, at several universities, and it varies on the academic giving the lecture, some are good, and some are awful. I often choose the ones that interest me or are in the field of geography I specialise in, universities do also bring lecturers in to lecture for them, as not all universities do public lecturing, mine doesn't.
