Pwc 2014

Hi, I was stuck on the commercial awareness question and would appreciate some help.
I've applied for higher apprenticeship tax position.
I have found an interesting story to talk about but i'm not sure how to answer probe questions such as how PwC can help the business? what problems could they face?
for example I found that recently HMRC hit Google with £24 million tax bill after they found from a whistle blower that the role of Google's London team is to make business before deals are concluded in Dublin which allows them to pay less tax. (http://www.accountancyage.com/aa/news/2321063/hmrc-hits-google-with-gbp24m-tax-bill) So do I talk more about this and if asked about how PwC can help: could I say that PwC can help Google by advising them on how to be tax efficient as possible and how to manage their tax obligations in the UK (and that they could also offer statutory audit since Google is on the stock exchange) and then talk about what HMRC has done recently to reduce tax avoidance etc.
am I answering the questions correctly?

any help would be appreciated.

I think C+ in GCSE English and Maths. You need to have a minimum of CCC grades in A level to apply though.

Thanks for the reply, what is the outcome of the course? Do pwc offer you a permanent contract ? Thanks

I forgot to also say you also need another 3 GCSE's A*-C (so 5 A*-C grades and CCC at A level) however this is the minimum entry requirement.
If you apply for tax you can get a professional qualification with ATT (Association of Tax Technicians), nationally recognised Level 4 Diploma in tax practice and also Higher Apprenticeship reward from them. I think most apprentices do get a permanent contract. Vacancies are still open so definitely worth applying!

Here's the link to apply for tax: http://www.ukcareers.pwc.com/PwCGradWeb/Searches/VacancySearchResults.aspx?LoggedOut=true&Site=School&EntryRoute=293AD17AA3A04BAD84F9FB36A011E8D0&BUArea=8B43247487F044C1A5E5EA419F46EDD7&BusinessStream=NONE&IntakeYear=NONE&StartDate=NONE&GenericLocation=NONE&vacsrchChannelSource=None

I have been invited for an assessment day in February in the London office, I haven't had any interview previous to this what should I expect? How many people attend these assessment days? And what are we expected to do? Has anyone else attended a London Assessment day? Thanks!

Hiya!

If you want tips on the PwC assessment centre, if you've not already gone, there are loads given from those who were successful on RateMyApprenticeship. They rate their experiences and give tips to those thinking of applying - might be worth a look? http://goo.gl/G3CUJv

Fingers crossed for you!

Hi, do you know any sites to practice the intray exercise?
I just had a quick google - this one looks like it has a good range.

Otherwise:

http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/interviews/intray.htm

http://www.assessmentday.co.uk/in-tray-exercise.htm

Let me know how you find these!

Hi, thank you for the links! most of them are very good with advice on how to approach the intray exercise however they don't have any intray tests I could practice. :frown:
I've been trying for some time now and I can't find anything similar to the one I did at PwC Assessment Centre (and the intray is the main reason they didn't let me through), the intray included 2 sections the first had 8 emails and around 12 multiple choice questions and the second section included the written exercise - we had to write an email. I think we were given 45 mins for this test.

Hello!
I recently found out about the higher apprenticeships available in Belfast. The deadline is the 14th of March, will I be at a huge disadvantage applying so close to the deadline?
