Where's the best place to study History of Art?

Hello

I am glad I found this very useful thread. I am not sure about my university choice... Could anyone tell me please which British unversity is the best place to study art history Manchester, Nottingham, the Courtauld, UCL, York, Warwick or Oxbridge and if each university offers an international study module which invilves a trip abroad?
I was also wondering if January deadline gives an applicant a chance?

Thanks

I've made this into a new thread for you

The Courtault is about as good as it gets for Art History though.

You might also be interested in Glasgow's course - it's run in partnership with Christies.

Oh, thank you so much:smile:. Thanks for your answer too.
I heard that Courtault was very good too (Somerset House!)

Hmmm, but how different from Cambridge? I heard that Cambridge is better.

The Bridge is probably better
Take advice from someone specialist / in the industry, but I would suggest that Courtauld is going to be better if you want to work in the art / museum /similar world, but Cambridge would be better if you want a general degree that will make it easier to work in unrelated sectors

As I don't plan to work in unrelated sectors and it's my dream to be an art historian The Courtauld must be the best choice for me:smile:

I just want to say that you're tough for taking on what interests you most! I'm very interested in art history as well but I don't have the balls to apply for history of art at uni as I'm just scared that I might not get a job. Who are your favourite artists?

I have just noticed your answer. Strange, but I stopped getting notifications.:s-smilie:

I agree with you, but I have been waiting for this moment for quite a long time. It is my dream... It must come true... And also it is my second degree.
My favourite artists are French Impressionists, Pre-Raphaelites, and Italian artists. (And of course my sister:biggrin:)
(I started to like Giovanni Boldini even more, after I was told that I look like Martha Regnier-the woman he once painted:colondollar:)
The artist who inspired me to study art history is Lucas Cranach the elder I had to recreate his paiting of Katharina von Mecklenburg when I was a member of an art club. I was 13 then. It was an unforgettable experience...
