I think me and my ex will have the exact same classes for A level?

Hey guys, I broke up with this guy about two years ago and ever since, we avoid each other because we find talking really awkward. We're in Year 11 and we're picking our A levels and I found out that we're doing the exact same subjects including German, which literally nobody but me and him are doing. So if it was just us two in the class, what should I do? We just go in awkward silences so do I keep it that way or do something else?

It's been 2 and a half years and you must have been like 13/14 when you were together. Surely it's been long enough and you've both grown up enough that you can sit in the same room together and be civil and friendly with each other.

I try to be nice,he just goes all awkward and quiet
