Haha I know right! <img src="images/smilies/tongue.png" border="0" alt="" title="" smilieid="5" class="inlineimg" /> by the way I never asked, what halls are you thinking of staying in? <img src="images/smilies/smile.png" border="0" alt="" title="" smilieid="1" class="inlineimg" />

I have no idea! I don't really like the halls, they seem too 'squashy' for me, if that makes sense :P I'm either going to commute to the uni or live in private accommodation I think :/ haha wbu?

Haha yeah I can see where you're coming from, I rather like halls to be honest though  I see, you sure you can't be tempted even a little by halls? How far away do you live from DMU then? I am looking to stay in Newarke Point hopefully, that's if I get a room next year anyway

Coventry or De Montford to do Accounting and Finance? Still unsure and haven't sent UCAS of yet so was hoping for some advice.

Hey

You're in luck, I am applying to do accounting and finance too! Hopefully at De Montfort  it just so happens that Coventry is one of my other choices though. Both are great universities, but personally I prefer De Montfort out the 2, the lecturers seem friendlier and the facilities are great, they have not long spent a load of money on the business and law building, so everything is fairly modern too. Also the rent for halls is cheaper than Coventry too  however this is just my opinion and you may think differently

Hope I helped!

Thanks. Where else have you applied for? I have 3 universities nailed on as choices but the other 2 could be De Montford, Coventry or even Leicester as suddenly an Accounting and Finance course has popped up on UCAS but it doesn't have many details.

No problem  I have only applied to 4 as I couldn't find a 5th one I wanted to go to, other than De Montfort and Coventry though, I have also applied to Bangor and Portsmouth. All four are great universities in my opinion but as I say De Montfort is my top choice  I see, so what are your 3 definite universities then?

I am currently on ABC and my target grades are ABB so I have chosen Birmingham (AAB) and I hope they offer one below because it will be extremely difficult to achieve, Sheffield and Keele.

It's not that I don't like them, I'm just worried about space and noise levels haha  Funnily enough, out of all the halls I really liked Newarke Point haha  I live about 50mins away from DMU on train! How about you? That's great, just apply early to avoid dissappointment! have you recieved a reply from DMU yet?

I see, I left sixth form with ABC  Birmingham will probably give you an offer, if you get ABB and have been to an open day or had contact with the university in the past. When I went to the De Montfort open day, someone asked what happens if you don't get the grades wanted and they said they would more than likely give you an offer if you have made an effort and have shown interest in the past, so I assume it's the same at all universities. Don't know a lot about Sheffield, but I have friends who go to Keele and they seem to love it

Hi, are you from Birmingham? If you are, you could apply to the Uni of Birmingham via the access to Birmingham scheme, which will give you an offer of 2 grades lower than the standard entry requirement  (apologies if you're already aware of the scheme or you're not from Birmingham:colondollar:)

Haha oh I see, yeah it probably will get noisy from time to time, but that's halls for you, all part of the Uni experience! haha see great minds think alike! I think you should get a room in Newarke Point too, then I will at least know someone  To be fair that's not too far away, I am about an hour away by train, but I really don't want to have to commute all the time, but that's just me  yeah I shall be on the website all night when accommodation becomes available, just refreshing the page as I imagine it will crash lol  No not yet, I'm doing it through my old school and the teacher there hasn't finished my reference so still waiting for her to do that and send it off :frown:

That's true! I didn't think of it like that  Haha, we'll see  Yeah I know what you mean, that's what I'm unsure about! I think commuting will tire me out tbh :frown: Aww really?! :frown: how long's she gonna take?!

Haha see, it's part and parcel of university, plus you won't have to be up so early to travel to lectures if you live in halls! we shall indeed, hopefully you will have a change of heart though haha  Yeah there will be a lot of going back and forth all the time, I imagine it would take it out of you after a while :/ but if you feel you can cope, then it's up to you  Yeah she is taking the mick to be honest! She says it will be sent off by next week, so just got to wait and see, if not she will get to see an annoyed side of me haha

Do you think a university would offer me a place if I had an Accounting and Finance personal statement but I went for the Banking and Finance course?

Hmmmm I'm not sure, both courses have similarities, you would have to make sure everything in the personal statement is relevant, but I imagine you could use a majority of the accounting and finance personal statement for banking and finance  however I don't know for definite :s-smilie:

Haha so true! I do love my sleep so I think that's definitely a massive advantage:tongue: Yeah, I wish I could try to commute for a while and then choose whether or not to live in accommodation, but I don't think its possible :frown: Haha, when you told me, I was getting annoyed for you! but yeah, try to get it sent off as soon as possible

Haha don't we all! Always try and get every little bit of sleep I can  Hmmmm that would be helpful :/ well my friend started commuting when she started Uni, she did it for about 2 to 3 weeks and then couldn't hack it, so she had to try and find a room, which took her a while :s-smilie: I still think a room in Newarke Point is the way forward, you just haven't realised it yet haha  Yeah that woman doesn't half stress me out, I will make sure she gets it done by next week though, don't you worry haha

Haha I know! Ah yeah, that's the problem, it's going to be VERY difficult trying to find accommodation afterwards :/ I think all teachers are like that tbh, my college took almost 3weeks to do my reference which annoyed the hell out of me! But yeah, the sooner the better
