MA Fashion Media Production @ LCF

Hi, I'm applying to LCF for MA Fashion Media Production this year. My interview is scheduled next month and I wanted to know if anyone is applying for the same course or has already studied it?

In that case, some insights would prove helpful. I'm excited and nervous as the time. Some prep talk would feel relieving.

Really hoping to read some responses.

Thanks.

Hello,
I'm a BA student at Chelsea (part of UAL) studying Graphic Design Communication and I'm also thinking of applying to this course! I haven't been to any open day and I'm not sure when is too late to apply; when did you apply? Did you have your interview yet - and if I may ask, what background you're coming from, i.e BA and/or work experience? I'm worried that when I apply I won't have enough relevant work experience! But it seems like a new course for LCF, I have no idea how many students they take on. I also have some tricky situations as an International student. If you have any more info to share, I would also be grateful!

Hi Lara, it's nice to hear from you. I got offered a styling course which is why I re-applied straight to the university. My second and final interview is next week over Skype and I'll be speaking with the course director directly. I'm a Mass Media graduate with work experience in the fashion industry for a little over a year.

MA Fashion Media Production is great if you have many talents and broad perspectives. It's basically a single outlet for all your talents which would help you channel them in the desired directions. You can choose to be a fashion film maker, fashion trends forecaster, fashion art director, journalist or a stylist. If you think you can handle, for example, journalism and styling, then this course could prove ideal for you. And considering you have already studied at UAL, I'm sure other doubts you may have will easily get solved if you visit LCF on an open day. Keep me updated?

Hope this helps.
Dear Noisternes,

Hope your interview went well - could you maybe let me know what they've asked you and how it went? I've applied, waiting for the answer but would like to know about the deets on the interview up front.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dino!

So I got through! *DRUMROLL* I'm so excited to start studying at LCF and more excited to meet people who share the same passion as me.

Moving on, my interview was really simple. It lasted about 20 minutes and all I talked about is how I plan to go about my dissertation once there. I talked about how my interests developed and how I plan to merge them in order to serve the creative community. Honestly, it sounds really boring but all they care to see is the passion in you. Talk about your work in depth. She might ask you what your strengths and weaknesses are. Make sure you're honest at every step. I think if this course is for you, you'll get through very easily. Let me know what happens?

All the best!

Thanks a lot for the response and CONGRATS on your application! I just got a date for my interview, it's in the beginning of July so I'll be preparing myself with both my own content and outsourcing some information! Your advice are golden! Will let you know as soon as I know

Sending xxx

Dear Noisternes - how did your interview go? What did they as you?

I'm really interested so it would be amazing if you could let me know some of the details.

Thanks in advance!

Dear all,

I had my interview for Fashion Media Production and got an offer!!

The course leader is really nice and helpful, so don´t worry!

However, I am still not sure if this course is for me. It sounds so technical and film-related, something which I´m not really experienced of. I have a media management background and I worked for a womens magazine for 2,5 years.

Any ideas on this course? I would love to lay a focus on fashion styling, fashion journalism, communication and branding. Do you know if this course will cover this?

Thank you very much!!

Hello,

I have applied for this MA too and first of all I want to thank you for what you all have written. Can somebody give more details about the interview? It will take place this week...I'm a little bit worried, because I don't have so much work to show specifically to the master direction...I mean, I've studied Fashion Design so I mostly have projects in my portfolio. So I would be glad if you could tell me some tips for the portfolio or something more about the interview!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Helen,

According to my knowledge, this course has many specialisations like journalism, creative direction, film making and styling. I'm a stylist myself and have worked as a fashion journalist for online portals and magazines. I want to major in creative direction for magazine which is why this course seemed tailor made for me.

The beauty of this course is it is for people who have dabbled/can dabble in more than one fields. Who can write and style, for example, or who can also use the camera well. If you're looking for a course that'll make you a fashion-media professional, then I'm sure this is the one for you. Trust me when I say this because I've spoken to many seniors and the course seems promising.

Dear Ire,

Thank you so much for your answer. This really encourages me to stick with the course. Journalism, creative direction, fashion styling, photography and film looks like the perfect mix to me and it is exactly what I am interested in. Yesterday I phoned a girl who graduated last year and she highly recommended this course to me. She also told me that it´s very "free", thus if you´re not used to study independently you should think about whether this course is for you. Personally, I think that you can handle this course pretty well, if you know what your talents are and if you highly motivated.

Will you also start in September? It´s always good to know some people before the course actually begins
