The university is somewhat mixed; there are some degrees that are amazing, eg: BU is the best university in the UK for animation (50 BU graduates worked on Avatar), TV & Film production, PR are also very good... The university is somewhat let down, like a lot of non-Russell group uni's, by the amount of vocational subjects offered, things such as Events Management, etc. I'd say the difference is noticeable.
It may come as a surprise that the computing at BU is actually quite respected in industry; we're one of Intel's top 6 university choices for under and post grads in the UK, and a lot of companies love BU students (presumably they like the course content and the way it's taught). I'm in second year and am applying to companies for my placement year, and over the last few weeks I've had interviews and assessment centres at IBM, Intel, Goldman Sachs, Lockheed Martin & PepsiCo. The course is very well-rounded and gives quite a broad covering of computing topics, and the lecturers & facilities are very good. Definitely come for an open day if you haven't already.
If you want to do your CCNA you can start that in your first year (second semester I believe), I completed the first part of my CCNA cert at uni as it's a Cisco academy (plus it's subsidised) and it has helped significantly when applying for companies so I would recommend it. Demand will likely dictate when the other three parts will run (I think you have to do them in a certain order), but a lot of companies in industry are willing to pay for it while there.
