Results taking technique?!! (quick question)

I'm having to record the rate of gas produced from the simple reaction between sulphuric acid and magnesium.

I original way of recording results was to quickly write down the gas reading on the gas syringe every 5 seconds. But, at some concentrations, the gas is made so quickly that I find it hard to quickly read off the syringe scale and add to my results table every 5 seconds.

I came up with another idea. I use my iphone timer to record the time(s) when the gas reaches a multiple of 10. This way is much easier as I only have to press the 'lap' button while still looking at the gas syringe reading.
The results I get with this seem ok and show differences in reaction rates quite well.
Does this sound like a good idea?
Have I missed something that wont allow me to work out order of reaction, arrhenious equation, etc?

Thanks

Sounds good to me. While these will be not exactly the same data, in the end they should give the same results.

But: if you are already using iPhone, why don't take take a picture of the syringe every 5 seconds?
