I really didn't think they'd be able to reach an agreement but they've done it. Israel don't sound too happy though

A few more details according to US officials:

*IRAN NUCLEAR ACCORD WITH WORLD POWERS ENDS 10-YEAR DEADLOCK
*IRAN WILL HALT 20% ENRICHMENT FOR 6 MONTHS, FARS REPORTS
*IRAN AGREEMENT DOESN'T FORMALLY RECOGNIZE RIGHT TO ENRICH
*IRAN AGREEMENT WILL STILL ALLOW IRAN TO ENRICH URANIUM
*IRAN INTERIM AGREEMENT FREEZES ADDITIONAL SANCTIONS
*IRAN DEAL LIFTS TRANSPORT AND INSURANCE SANCTIONS ON OIL

edit: Sounds pretty sensible to me

Why would israel be happy? They only seem to care for themselves.

Deeply related to international sanctions, although successful sanctions are quite rare. Also beacause of the new president. It recognized Iran's right to produce 5% uranium, despite no clear satement. It also indicates the change of attitude of US towards iranian regime , which needs further observation

Of course, that's why it's a only a 6 month deal. A first step is the official mantra

Meaningless deal. Iran still maintains all capabilities needed to produce a nuclear weapon whilst having sanctions lifted.

edit- I said the deal was meaningless when actually I should have said the deal is meaningless for the goal of preventing a nuclear Iran, it is actually very meaningful for the Iranians as it allows them to maintan all their capabilites whilst having sanctions lifted. They are undoubtedly the winners emerging from this period of negotiations.

How exactly?

This deal has virtually cut off all means of Iran producing nuclear weapons unnoticed.

A poor deal. Obama doing what he does best (nothing) and leaving the situation for the next president.

If you ever planned to visit Israel once if your life, you better do it quickly while it still exists.
There is no reason to believe that the sanctions have been working. Actually, they have escalated the Iranian nuclear programme to a state where they theoretically are online months away from a nuclear weapon, should they decide to go that way.

What has worked is the Obama-adminstrations change from completely irrational demands of "no-iranian-enrichment" to a more reasonable stand, which actually recognizes Iran's rights. The more diplomatic course is what has brought succes, not Obama trying to be a tough guy.
