Ok

I'm sorry that you have mental health problems. I know I have OCD, have had anxiety in the past and I maybe have bipolar, not sure. I just don't want to tell specialists about the bipolar though (if I am) cos you have to tell the DVLA if you are, meaning maybe losing your provisional driving license.

I hope your mental health issues are ok and now resolved and don't bother you anymore

Unfortunately, mine will never be resolved. I have personality disorders, running across 6 of them, I have chronic high functioning low moods, which dip into depression, and I have pseudo hallucinations. Sadly I am medication resistant, and no where near stable enough for therapy. I'm pretty insane in the head department, truth be told. It angers me and annoys me, but I have to live with it and try to get on with life.

That is VERY sad. I am very sorry to hear this. I once had a friend with a type of personality disorder (multiple) and it was difficult being her friend... it was difficult for her too.

I am VERY sorry for all that you have, and hope that God will make you better.

Yeah, I can appreciate how difficult it is being friends with people like me. Hence why I don't actually have any proper friends at uni...I kinda just don't want to do that to people anymore.

Ah, I don't think God can cure me  But thanks anyway :hugs:

Well, even if you don't have friends in uni, you have some on here  and if we see you in person one day we'll all have fun and a great time with you so you can have friends with you in person too

I have a pretty amazing best friend from here, but it is a bit lonely at uni.

Ah, I'm a lapsed Catholic/Atheist, I have a complicated relationship with religion. God doesn't seem to answer my prayers, well, He never did, so I think He just doesn't care about me. I mean, there are more important things in the world to care about like the political mayhem we're in!

Oh I can't stand politics. Being a conservative in a very liberal area... it's isolating, and sometimes feels like I'm wrong just because I'm different. It gets into my head too, makes me feel like the world is against me. It's just lonely worst of all and makes me feel all alone.

I'm Baptist, so totally opposite to a Catholic lol. But even then, have no churches or anything... just none in my area. Isolating again.

...I read Politics at uni... :mmm:

Tbh, God is (for me) a personal thing. I was never much into Mass and all that anyway, even though I went for years on end. I don't see the need for a big show of it.

You read it?

Yeah, that's one good thing about being a Baptist. As a Baptist it isn't about any ceremonies or going to church every week or anything. Most Baptists don't. As long as you have a personal relationship with God and believe in Jesus and how he died on the cross for our sins. Then you're fine. Don't need to go to any church or any ceremonies at all, as a Baptist.

That's the same for most of the Protestant types I think. (opposite of catholics and anglicans).

Read it, study it, Politics is my degree, but history is my one true love. :moon:

Hmm, yes, Catholicism is a lot of ceremonies. But, to me, that is normal, even if I find it strange. I guess straight Catholic education has done that to me.

You have finished your degree? or are you still at uni doing it? What uni do you go to? if it's alright to ask

I'm studying at Dundee uni, in my 3rd year, still have one year to go. I skipped first year, so this is technically my 2nd year (Scottish degrees are 4 years, instead of 3). Tbh, I'll admit it now, coming here wasn't my wisest decision. The city is great, but I don't like my uni. I wish I had gone to a better uni. Dundee isn't exactly known to be prestigious, although it's a decent enough uni (just not the blessed RG uni, which no one really cares about) but yeah, not a big fan anymore.

You don't like it? I wanted to go to Glasgow (but didn't have the GCSE's I needed) and now have choices between York (which is a russel group), Surrey and Hull. Don't know which I'm gonna pick though. Would you recommend York since it's Russel Group? Or Surrey because of its high national tables rankings?

No. I have had issues with modules and mitigating circumstances, and I am miserable here quite a lot.

I had offers from York and Glasgow :moon:

Tbh, choose the uni which has the course content you like. Seriously. You're gonna be there for 3+ years, you need to enjoy the course itself. Rankings and all don't really matter.

You had an offer from Glasgow? :frown: I SO WISH I did!

I WISH I had an offer from Lancaster too. Glasgow and Lancaster were THE TWO I wanted to go to (but asked for GCSE's above what I have :frown:) so I didn't apply to them.

I really don't know. York is Business Management in general, Surrey was more specialised and I liked that. I found Surrey's course more interesting and with more interesting modules. York's modules looked harder too.

With Hull it's hard to say at the moment cos I haven't been on the applicant day there yet. But with Surrey and York, that's how it is. Although location-wise, I prefer York, and that you can stay in York accommodation for your whole degree, and that it's a cheap area to live in, and is easy to get to (from where I live) it looks more attractive to me to live in. The campus was much prettier too, and Surrey had diversity... but I saw it as a bit intimidating as I have never been in the minority before.

I went to an exam obsessed grammar school, so I had the grades. But yeah, it's a case of applying to places within your criteria.

Wait until you go to the Hull applicants day and then start on making a decision. Take accommodation, courses, locations, all of it into consideration. Disregard league tables.

Ok thank you  I had been considering them a LOT. I had been wondering if Surrey wasn't prestigious enough and panicking about that (my anxiety). I will disregard them

Ok  which would you recommend for me out of Surrey and York? Based off what I have said? and why?

York from your description, doesn't sound intimidating to you, you liked the campus (also campus wise is important to consider) and the location.

Ok  Thank you  course-wise I'm not sure... like I think I'd rather the Surrey course because it seems more interesting. Teachers were really good at both, maybe slightly cleverer at York, but more friendly at Surrey.

But apart from that. York all the way, like course is the most important... so, not sure, stick with York?

Consider York, but wait for Hull applicant day. That could blow all your thoughts out the window and you may like there! :h:

Ok

I could make Hull my insurance, they ask for lower grades and offer to make my offer unconditional if I make Hull my firm (Hull would give me a £4,000 scholarship if I picked them as my firm too). But we'll see how it goes  thank you for your advice

I'm gonna go to bed now. I have college starting back tomorrow (after 2 weeks off :frown: with half term and being ill the week before).

Goodnight  talk to you again soon  it was lovely to meet you
