What the hell am i supposed to to about transcripts?!!and how do i get an equivalency

I've applied to a buttload of Unis and am about 2give my SATS. I have done O and A levels and can even obtain some decent credits from my A level grades to get excused from the first year of my undergraduate studies but im not going to get an equivalency because that's just too much of a hassle, I honestly don't even know how to get my certificates equalized and evaluated. What on earth am I supposed to do? I don't have any transcripts or a high school counselor!!! I just have my O and A level certificates, and every bloody university is just dead set on demanding transcripts.
you may have to pay a company like this: http://www.wes.org/students/index.asp

Hi kitty-toxic,

Your school(s) will generally need to put together a transcript for you. The Fulbright Commission has lots of very useful information about transcripts and applications in general. Do you have a careers advisor you could send this link to? http://www.fulbright.org.uk/study-in...ing/transcript. The careers advisor will then need to upload the transcript and a recommendation (if possible) for you. If the careers advisor at your school can't help, you can have your headteacher upload the references. The Common App has more info about that here: https://appsupport.commonapp.org/lin...1/No-counselor

If you are in a gap year or have been out of school for a while and can't get a transcript from your school(s) you may want to look at this: https://appsupport.commonapp.org/lin...al-transcripts. It's probably a good idea to contact the Admissions offices of the universities you are applying to to let them know what your particular situation is and ask what you need to do for them to consider your application complete.

I assume you are using the Common App - if so, just make sure you have assigned your Recommender(s) (i.e. referees) for each individual college under your 'My Colleges' tab or your application will not be complete.

Hope that helps.

okay thank you so much. But what about my University of Cambridge Certificates? Can they qualify as transcripts?

Hi kitty_toxic,

A transcript in American is a very specific thing which is put together by your school. I'm assuming you mean you did Cambridge Pre-U or an international A level (?) Those grades will still need to be put into a transcript (like the examples shown on the Fulbright website) and uploaded onto your Common App by a college counsellor or careers advisor before your application will be considered complete.

If there's really and truly no one from your previous school who can help you make a transcript, you could try to contact the universities to which you are applying (try the admissions office to start), explain the situation and they may accept certificates instead of a transcript. You'd need to contact them directly (and immediately) if you were going to try to do that though.

Best of luck.

Laurence
