I have been offered a place at Demontfort Uni for an English Language and Media degree and I am really interested in going there. I am still undecided as to whether I am going to stop at the university the first year, or stay living at home. If i was to live at home, I was wondering if you knew how freshers week would work, seeing as I would not know anybody until my course started. Also, would I miss out on anything if I didnt stop at university?

So sorry I literally just saw this! Where do you live? I mean fresher's is a great part of uni, there are quite a few drinking (bar crawl - notorious event every year! Themed nights, fresher's ball) and non drinking events during the day time. Also you have the opportunity to sign up to and attend taster sessions of several societies and sports clubs. Which are potential sources of socialising later on in the year. I'm not sure but there might be a society for students who live at home but commute to Leicester. Personally I would say that it's probably best to stay in Leicester for the 1st year, so you can get a good grip of the city and are able to meet loads of people, then if you choose to, commute in the 2nd year. I've found very few if any people stay on in the sports socs later on in the year simply because of travel issues.
