Got my first placement yesterday! (Mental health nursing)

I got allocated my first placement yesterday, and it's functional intensive communication service for those over 65. (Depression, anxiety OCD, psychosis etc) and was wondering if anyone had any advice to give me. My experience is with under 65s and in a ward setting, never really done any community work. Don't really know what to expect! Thanks

I never had a placement like this, I did however spend a day at a day clinic for the over 65s. I would say it would be a very good placement for gaining communication skills, assessments, some therapies. Community can be great, some people may find the pace slow but it gives you a chance to get to know your patients and build up a good therapeutic relationship. Good luck!
