I want to get fit, but have no idea how to start?

I have a lot of spare time which i mainly use for revising and gaming and I'm seriously considering using this time to get fit

I'm not fat nor I'm i skinny, my friends who go to the gym say I have a lot of genetic potential, as i have naturally huge calves and so on

I'm not neccesary looking to put on tonnes of bulk of muscle, more interested in muscle tone than absurd muscle gain

But I have NO IDEA how to start, I don't even know what a squad or dead lift is.

Is there a guide or some video tutorial on getting started? Would really help me out,

Ps, I'm eligible for free gym membership in my borough :colondollar:

I need to lose weight and tone up too but im too lazy, what i would suggest is start going for a run everyday in the morning to improve your stamina and to start cutting some fat. Go to the gym and begin with some back strengthening machines(ask the fitness advisers there). Then start doing some Chest press and shoulder press + bicep curls and tricep curls. Ask the fitness advisers about these exercises and they should show you the basics. Also try some pullups, press ups , sit ups and crunches. But remember go easy in your first month or 2, keeping the weights heavy but not too heavy and limiting the number of reps for each exercise.

Or

My new favorite: http://gonutrition.com/pure-mass

Eat 500 calories more than maintenance, drink loads of water and constantly watch videos of how to execute lifts properly.

Follow or ghost peoples blogs to pick up on their mistakes, progression and immerse yourself in the culture lifting.

You can not tone muscle, you grow it then you ctrl alt delete the fat around it to make it look bigger.

On YouTube, find someone called 'the f0rtress' (with a zero not an o) he's probably ones of the best helpers when it comes to body weight exercises.

If you want weights, look through 'jerome fitness' videos. He's got workout plans aswell as exercises for every muscle in the body .

They've both got videos for both beginners and advanced people.

Good luck!

In terms of improving fitness you simply need to do cardio, in terms of muscle you should look at resistance exercises.
