Atmosphere/ Environment at LSE?

I've never actually been to LSE and received an offer and am quite keen to firm it. Can anyone tell me about the social and academic environment at LSE? What is is like compared to other unis such as Oxbridge who are perceived a very intense academic and stressful environment? Or perhaps the social life at some unis where getting drunk every single night is the norm :biggrin:

I do not study there but I have visited many times for talks, lectures and a friend went there. The soclal environment at any part of London University is very different from being at a university in a small city (which is what Oxford and Cambridge are by comparison). Being in London you can escape academia if you want and not bump into fellow students if you want.
