Contagion of STI's

I've recently found out a girl I've been sleeping with has tested positive for Chlamydia. Do STI's always pass on or is there a chance that it might not have?

Chance you have it, it doesn't always pass on but just get it checked out at GUM/GP clinic.

They don't always pass on, but what the chances are, no-one knows. (HIV is the best researched, and even that's not known exactly.)

So, yes, it's test time. Depending on where you are and your age, there may be a 'pee on this and send it in' test service for chlamydia.

Presumably you weren't using condoms?

Usually but there were a couple of times where we hadn't

All viral and bacterial sexual infections vary in chance of successful transmission. For example, HIV is transmitted 1 in about 1000-2000 of unprotected vaginal intercourse with someone whom is HIV positive. Other infections such as HSV-1 and HSV-2 (Herpes) have high transmission rates when active lesions are present.

The chance is you probably have a Chlamydia infection if you weren't using protection. Go to your local GUM clinic and get tested. If you're positive, you'll be given a single dose of azithromycin or longer course of doxycycline.

Good luck.
