Hi sorry to be asking more questions, but what is provided in the kitchens, bedrooms??? Also, what have people found useful to have that i might not think of??? Thank you:smile:

In the kitchen; cupboards, a fridge, an oven, a sink
In the bedroom; a chair, a bed, a desk, a wardrobe

I have no idea on the specifics!

Don't forget to put your name on it because you're so proud of it!

Toastie makers are good to bring.
Reply 5
do you not get a normal grill?
Reply 6
Yep there's a normal grill and hob and a microwave too. And huge monster freezers in some of the colleges!

I took a Britta water filter cos the water tastes like mud in Lancaster (in my opinion anyway!)... yummy!

When I moved in, we were provided with a kettle but no toaster. Another kitchen downstairs had both, another kitchen had neither. I think you should get a kettle, but if you don't it's probably best to sort that out when you get there. It's cheaper to split the csot of one kettle for the kitchen between everyone using it if you do end up without one.
Two toasters and a kettle are provided. Well they are for everyone in Lonsdale and Cartmel anyway, I assumed the rest would be the same, apparently not?!
4 slice toasters all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My list that I've posted around based on a Cartmel viewpoint!

Duvet and bed stuff. They give you a mattress protector (or wet-the-bed protector) but take it off as soon as you get there because if you tear it (and you will) you have to pay for it. Plus it makes the bed too sweaty!
Sleeping bag if you think anyone’s likely to want to sleep on your floor
Coathangers!
No need to take a bin, iron, telephone or mirror (there’s a full length one inside the wardrobe door and one in the bathroom)
Desk lamp
Radio
TV if you want. (sshhh…you don’t need a TV license, trust me)
Phone charger
Umbrella
Camera

Towels
Bathroom cleaning stuff (I survived with one sprayey bathroom cleaner all year)
As much loo roll as you can take. I went through 25 rolls in a year. I know because I kept the empty rolls and made a didgeridoo out of them.
Febreze is your friend

2 big plates, 2 bowls, pyrex measuring bowl, casserole dish if you think you’ll use it
As much cutlery as you can take (it gets lost or doesn’t get cleaned…keeping some in your room is a good idea)
No need to take a toaster or kettle
Toastie maker! The best invention known to man.
2 big frying pans, big pan and little pan
Big knife to chop meat
Vegetable knife
Scissors
Ladelly spoon thing and that thing you use to get chips off the baking tray
2 wooden spoons
2 baking trays
Oven gloves (NO-ONE will remember oven gloves!)
About 5 tea towels because you’ll never wash them
Tin foil, clingfilm, kitchen roll
Mixing bowl if you intend to bake
3 mugs or glasses
Washing up liquid (loads of cheap stuff)
Pan scourers (you’ll go through loads of these)
Bottle opener
Corkscrew
Tin opener
Chopping board
Peeler
Cheese grater
Sieve
Colander

Basic first aid stuff
Student Loan stuff, bank account details, cheque book, passport
Passport photos (about 6 should last you all year)
Loads of lined paper and pens and whatever stationary you want
Laptop and printer if you have one. Make sure it’s got all your music ready on it. A rewritable CD is handy as well.
Laundry bag
Fancy dress: school uniform definitely, and anything else you can think of. It seems stupid to pack loads of silly clothes but they come in handy for Fresher’s week. Pirate outfit, animal costume, etc etc
Posters, photos, CDs, DVDs and books, things to make the room yours
Blu-tack (although in Cartmel, I’d suggest sellotape so you don’t get charged for blu-tack marks on your walls
Door wedge if you don’t have a traffic cone to prop your door open
Games like Twister and if you can fit it in, a bottle of wine to be sociable!
